Our Red Squirrel Workshop allows photographers to capture both static and action shots of Red Squirrels in one session.
Using various locations in a private, openly planted woodland, you will be able to move around the trees, walls and attractive perches to make best use of the light and obtain clean backgrounds.
From moss covered tree stumps and fallen logs to attractive pine trees and lichen covered dry stone walls, the workshop provides the opportunity to create a varied portfolio of Red Squirrel images.
If you are looking to obtain action shots then please be aware that the Squirrels move extremely fast and can be erratic. Obtaining good running and jumping shots can sometimes be difficult and requires a good knowledge of your equipment and significant patience. However, I can help you maximise your chances, show you a mix of straightforward and more advanced techniques, and ensure you will get plenty of opportunities.
Itinerary
On arrival at about 9am we will start in the Woodland Hide then commence to the Refection Pool Hide
After you are happy with your shots we can then go outside (weather permitting) and photograph Red Squirrels as explained above using perches, tree stumps and lichen covered dry stone walls
Jumping Squirrels
We will also have a go at capturing Red Squirrels jumping towards us on a new jumping platform
